DEATH SHOW ARTIST STATEMENT

charles suggs

Using smoke evokes a sense of the intangible, something unable to be touched or grasped. My portraits are ghostly apparitions culled from memories of family, friends, and acquaintances, some who are deceased, others with whom I’ve lost touch. Over time, many of the faces and features have become difficult to remember, so instead I try to capture their presence, which is still vivid in my mind.
